Description
Catherine McManus was born in Lac Qui Parle, Minnesota, moving to Strathcona, North West Territories in November of1893. While travelling from Calgary to Strathcona, the family met Father Lacombe and Father Leduc.
With her children and husband Patrick, Catherine moved from Edmonton in the fall of 1919, settling on what was know as the Schultz homestead north of Millet.
Catherine was a skillful manager and homemaker. She was also in high demand as a midwife - helping to deliver a number of Millet area babies. She helped friends and neighbours in times of illness, often caring for them in her own home.
Catherine McManus retired to Millet with her husband. In 1944, Patrick died and Catherine continued to live in her own home enjoying visiting with friends and family. In her 80s she repaired the roof of her house, testifying to her energy and durability.
