Life and Work

Magdalena Stone, commonly known as Maggie, was born August 9, 1917 in Nemiska (Nemisca), Alberta to Bernard and Helen Roth She was the tenth of fourteen children. In 1926 she moved with her family to the Haynes area where she attended Satinwood school. At a local dance where her musical brothers were the orchestra she met the dashing David Stone, a young farmer who then came courting on a old horse. They married October 26, 1936 in Red Deer in a then not uncommon double ceremony with her brother Jack. She was nineteen.
