Wetaskiwin and District Heritage Museum

Unite with your local community through history, heritage, culture, events and education at the Wetaskiwin District Heritage Museum Centre. Located at the heart of Wetaskiwin’s historic downtown, our turn of the century building is home to three floors of exhibits that offer a friendly gathering place to explore the dynamic heritage of Wetaskiwin City, County, and the Maskwacis Cree Four Nations.

You won’t be able to resist our one-of-kind Children’s Legacy Centre & Pioneer Play Rooms where kids of all ages engage with real museum artifacts. And that’s just the beginning! Sit in an authentic tipi, share in the lives of the extraordinary Women of Aspenland, learn about the entrepreneurial spirit of our City and County, glimpse into life on a Hutterite colony, and so much more. Check out our Star Store gifts and wool shop that includes your favourite old-fashioned candy, toys, clothing and more! Our wool shop has a wide variety of all the spinning, felting, and knitting goods you need! Also before you leave, grab a drink from our coffee shop that has so many delicious beverages to enjoy!Programming throughout the year includes field trips and summer camps, felting and yoga classes, as well as hosting large community events. The Wetaskiwin District Heritage Museum also manages the City of Wetaskiwin Archives. First established in 1978, the Archives holds over 100,000 photographs and negatives, newspapers that date from 1901, letters, journals, scrapbooks, and more. We also work closely with the Wetaskiwin branch of the Alberta Genealogy Society for all of your family history needs!
