About

Founded in 1994, the Central Alberta Regional Museums Network (CARMN) is a collective of approximately forty community-based museums working together to facilitate research, publications and educational programs dealing with the heritage of Central Alberta.

CARMN exists to strengthen the museum community in Central Alberta by advocating for increased visibility and support for museums and their staff, sharing resources and knowledge, and promoting heritage, professionalism, and community engagement.

The goal of CARMN is to share knowledge and resources to strengthen all member museums so that they can better served their communities. Central Alberta Museums' membership comes from an area bounded roughly by Nordegg to Donalda, Devon to Calgary, Rosebud to Banff.

CARMN is dedicated to fostering professionalism and continual learning within the museum community, empowering members with confidence in their knowledge and skills. As a leader and advocate, CARMN promotes excellence, serves as a voice in Alberta’s Culture Plan, and builds strong relationships with the Alberta Museums Association. Through active engagement, collaborative projects, and effective networking, CARMN enhances member participation, supports succession planning, and ensures that museums remain vibrant hubs for community storytelling.
