Alberta Legacy Development Society
Wood crib grain elevators used to landmark every small town and community in Western Canada. Now grain is stored and shipped via large terminals and wooden elevators have become a thing of the past. Visit our elevator to see how these majestic buildings earned the title of Prairie Sentinel. The Leduc Heritage Grain Elevator is a traditionally built single composite wood crib structure that is in last used condition. The Elevator operated from 1978 to 2000 when it was saved from demolition. It is now a Non-Profit managed by the Alberta Legacy Development Society and is protected as a Registered Historic Resource. The site is currently open year-round but that is subject to change.
